Special edition: 13+13 albums that I've listened to in 2010

[random] what a cold day today...
[listening to] "rainy days" by oneway

1. Sade - Soldier Of Love

So soothing,as always..this Sade.At first, judging from the album cover,I thought Sade had implemented some exotic elements to this album. If you're looking for an album that you just want to put on your headphobe/earphone after been through a very hectic day..don't despair. This album is what you need.Plus,"The Moon And The Sky" as the first track is really ingenious..I personally love it.

Take a listen to: "The Moon And The Sky", "Soldier of Love", "Morning Bird", "Bring Me Home", "Skin"

2. Gorillaz - Plastic Beach

Funky song titles and funky intros (to each of the songs)...I started to think that Gorillaz has adapted to that kind of musical direction.

Take a listen to: "White Flag", "Superfast Jellyfish", "Empire Ants", "Some Kind Of Nature", "Broken"

3. Blue Six - Noesis

Hahah! Attracted to the album cover, earthlings? I betcha ya do! Heheh.Noesis is a soothing album,if your cup of tea is house (genre).Yup,it's some kind of dance music, just minus the upbeat techno 'feel' if you're into clubbing of some sort.

Take a listen to: "Luxury", "You Play Too Rough", "If You Turn Your Back On Love", "You Used To Rock", "I Tried To Tell You"

4. Olivia Ong - Olivia

Olivia..oh,Olivia.If you have been following her since "A Girl Meets Bossanova" albums,I bet you wouldn't dissapointed with this latest release. And yes,she covers some of the popular songs again, but I've no problem with that. Why? Her rendition in the form of jazz/bossanova/funk that is really refreshing to hear, and I really love her voice,as I never grew tired listening to them over and over again (I'm looking at you,Westlife.)

Take a listen to: "I Feel The Earth Move", "BIttersweet", "Never Can Say Goodbye", "Ain't No Sunshine", "Stars"

5. Lady Antebellum - Need You Now

Actually,it was a friend of mine who'd recommend this group.Firstly, she's a fan of country music, and second, she's a fan of Taylor Swift.Well,as for me,I'm not a fan of Miss Swift. So,I give myself a try, hopefully I wouldn't be tempted into the Swift-hype.After I listen to this album..thank God! Lady Antebellum's definitely a fresh air for me.Looking forward for their next album(s).

Take a listen to: "Need You Now", "Our Kind of Love", "Perfect Day", "Love This Pain", "When You Got a Good Thing"

6. Apocalyptica - 7th Symphony

From the album cover,to the album title...and to the title tracks & the songs.Edgier & cool, that's all I can say.

Take a listen to: "End of Me" ft Gavin Rossdale, "Not Strong Enough" ft Brent Smith, "Beautiful", "Broken Pieces" ft Lacey, "On The Rooftop With Quasimodo", "Sacra",

7. BoA - IDENTITY

Let's see,the time gap between her last album,BoA (2009) and this one, like a couple months apart? Well, well, her musical direction doesn't change that much. For this album...I could safely say that this album's more melancholic, compared to the uptempo-ness of her English debut, but nonetheless, the recommended songs below are worth a listen.

Take a listen to: "Mamoritai ~White Wishes~", "is this love", "THE END Soshite and...", "Fallin' "

8. Shakira - Sale El Sol

I really, really, really love the genre of this album! How am I gonna describe this? Hmmm,it's like a combination of jazz/samba/tango/mambo/slow rock in between..and it's madly catchy.I like! And owh,for those who are still in the mood of the recent World Cup,the official anthem's in this album as well (with two remixes).

Take a listen to: "Loca" ft Dizzee Rascal/El Cata, "Gordita" ft Residente Calle 13, "Addicted To You", "Rabiosa" ft Pitbull/El Cata, "Tu Boca"

9. M.I.A - MAYA

I actually, love this album more than Arular (2005) and Kala (2007).Maybe it's because, for this album, she's been freely experimenting with lots of sound effects? I leave that for you to decide.

Take a listen to: "Teqkilla", "Lovealot", "Space", "Illygirl", "Believer" ft. Blaqstarr

10. We Are The Fallen - Tear The World Down

Oh my,it feels like listening to Evanescence, maybe it's because WATF consists of the original lineup of the previous band (only minus Amy Lee this time). And I've no qualms on Carly Smithson being the lead vocal as well.If you listen carefully,Carly and Amy had different vocal range.Speaking of which,it's being a long time since Amy Lee came up with new album(s),right?

Take a listen: "Bury Me Alive", "Don't Leave Me Behind", "Sleep Well,My Angel", "Through Hell", "St. John"

11. Christina Aguilera - Bionic (Deluxe edition)

She's back, with a new image & concept.Yea,yea..I know some of you might despised (or embraced) it,whatever rocks your boat. This album goes into the list, simply because a)it's a deluxe edition, and, b)if you listen carefully,Bionic actually splited into "explicit" and the "usual Christina".Which one is the "explicit" side of Bionic? The first 8 tracks,yo.Plus,Christina's power vocals..who can deny that?

Take a listen to: "Bobblehead", "Monday Morning", "Glam", "Birds Of Prey", "Not Myself Tonight"

12. Linkin Park - A Thousand Suns

One of my favorite band had made their comeback! Although some of you out there might have your own views on their musical direction, well, that's fine with me.I agree on what Mike had said, listen to this as a whole.

Take a listen to: "The Requiem", "Burning In The Skies", "When They Come For Me", "Robot Boy", "Waiting For The End", "Blackout", "Wrectches And Kings", "Wisdom, Justice, And Love", "Iridescent", "The Catalyst"

13. Ne-Yo - Libra Scale

I didn't know that he would come up with a new album this year! Well,I should have known when he released that quirky "Beautiful Monster".And so,as for the rest of the album,it's just as good.

Take a listen to:  "Know Your Name", "Telekinesis", "Crazy Love" Ft. Fabolous, "One In A Million", "Beautiful Monster"

For the skeptics who think that K-music are all (sounded) the same, think again.

1. J.ae - Sentimental

For those who are a fan of the famous K-drama, Goong/Princess Hours/Imperial Palace/Gung..you must been familiar with one of the theme song, entitled "Perhaps Love" sung by How L & J,right? Guess what? J has made her comeback with a new stagename,J.ae.For this album, this one is much more sentimental (pun itended) compared to her previous albums.

Take a listen to: "NO.5" ft Eun Ji Won, "Gently (I Wanna Be Your Love)" ft Jung Yup, "Did I Love You?", "Angel's Disguise"

2. Rain - Back To The Basic

Oh hell yeah! The King of Kpop is back! I think the album title reflects his return into the music scene.

Take a listen to: "Hip Song", "One"

3. C.N.Blue - Bluetory

I HAVE to include this album on this list.A must-listen.

Take a listen to: All of them! Yup,all of the 5 songs in their first mini album, which are "I'm a Loner", "Love Revolution", "Y, Why...", "Now Or Never", "I Will.. Forget You.."

4. Narsha - Narsha

She's (one-fourth of Brown Eyed Girls, which I had reviewed on them, here.) the first to come out with a solo project.Oh yes,I love the quirky side of her and it suits very well with the mood of this album.

Take a listen to: "BBI RI BOP A", "I'm in Love", "Queen B"

5. TaeYang - Solar (International)

This album is for the international audience.Yes,you.Therefore,some of the tracks are in English version, although I prefer the originals (which is in Korean). No worries though, with TaeYang,he'd never go wrong.Just enjoy the awesomeness of this version.Trust me.

Take a listen to: "Prayer" ft Teddy, "Connection" ft Bigtone, "Where U At", "I'll Be There" (Korean version)

6. Ga-in - Step 2/4

The second member of Brown Eyed Girls with a solo project, she rockin' it with lots of tango.Maybe it's just me or what, after I listened to this album, the flow of each tracks reminds me of a soap opera..hmm,maybe it is suitablely called 'dramatic-tango'.

Take a listen to: "Nitchell (Baby-G Mix)", "Irreversible", "Esperando"

7. 2NE1 - To Anyone

Finally, one of my favorite girl bands had released their first full-length album! I could safely say that this album is catchy..ya know,it makes you wanna dance along to the funky beat.

Take a listen to: "Can't Nobody", "Clap Your Hands", "You & I", "Please Don't Go", "Kiss", "Try to Follow Me"

8. Se7en - Digital Bounce

Another favorite singer that had made his comeback. And it seems the direction of this album is more catchy-electronic,slightly different than what he had previously done: hip-hop/r&b/slow-jam.

Take a listen to: "Better Together", "Money Can't Buy Me Love", "Drips"

9. Oneway - Oneway Street

Want something different than what you-would-call-the-usual? Meet Oneway. How different is Oneway, compared to the others? Well,if you are into hip-hop/r&b/slow-jam, and/or you're happen to be a fan of Ne-Yo/Usher/Chris Brown as well, that's even better.Plus, they make their own music and stuff (and their fluency in English),that's what I call cool.

Take a listen to: The whole album! "U Drag", "One Way", "Magic", "Wrong Number", "Casino" ft Maria Kim, "Magic (Remix)"

10. Seo In Guk - Just Beginning and My Baby U (Special album)

I got to know him through the blogosphere, when he won a reality talent show,or something in between.I got intriguied,so I take a listen to his album...and after that,it was like,"Not bad,not bad!" His voice was meant for songs that are slow-jam and/or smooth r&b,and ballad. My favorite track from his album is definitely "Love U"..and as for the special album, that song comes in other version as well, namely 'Lovely version" and it's in jazz.

Take a listen to: "Love U (Lovely version)"

11. BoA - Hurricane Venus and Copy & Paste (BoA The 6th Repack Album)

To be honest, the album cover really spooked me.But don't let that distract you from listening to her.Consists of ample doses of catchy-electronic-ish,it'll grow in you.As for the repackaged album, entitled "Copy & Paste",is added with two more songs.

Take a listen to: "HURRICANE VENUS", "Dangerous", "M.E.P (My Electronic Piano)", "Adrenaline", "Let Me", "Copy & Paste"

12. House Rulez - Magic Television

So funky this album cover, isn't it? Although the album title might suggest that the music direction is somewhat "commercial-like",I guess you're almost right. It doesn't fueled by jazz (music) that much, unlike their first album,"Mojito",nonetheless,"Magic Television" gives you the impression of "holiday-ing at an island resort".

Take a listen to: "This Corea" ft Chris & Jelly.L, "Ennes Episode"

13. Girl Dream - Ice Illusion

Woohoo..this one is a quirky. At first,I thought it was an anime soundtrack album. And when I give myself a try, yeah, they kinda sound like one. Fantasy-ish intros before each song, and the voices from this band really got me into some kind of impression, like innocent aura of a winter season..and yet at the same time,it's (fairly) spooky.

Take a listen to: "Missing", "Ice Illusion", "Tender afternoon"

Dear Santa,

[random] Congrats to those taking their PMR results today!
[listening to] random videos on youtube

Hmmm...hmmm,seems like my letter has arrived at North Pole.

As for this coming Christmas,I've been playing this song over and over again.Interpret it in any way you like, though. :-) It's "Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence - FYI" by Utada.

What's so special about this song is that, apart from what most of the netizens called 'em as "random" and the ambiguity of the lyrics..I'll post the other version of the lyrics, quite different from what is shown in the vid above,so yeah...Wanna sing-a-long to this?

I give you my heart
Hold on, let me sign it
Your senorita a.k.a your best friend
Hereby, let it be known
Love like never before
I'm always at your service
You just have to holla at me

NYC NYC what what
Tokyo Tokyo what what
Sent it up from the streets to the highest
To the highest high

Work it out, work it out hustlers

We're gonna... Ooh aah
FYI We're gonna be up all night
I'll see you later, call me
You know my number

Like Captain Picard
I'm chillin' and flossin'
It's seven o'clock
I issue a warning
That's right, we're stealing this show

We're sipping Chardonnay
From 2pm on a working day

Ching-a-ling ching-a-ling what what
Ching-a-ling ching-a-ling what what
Take me down to the fields where the grass is
Where the grass is lime
